SUSTAINABLE FARMING AND FOOD SYSTEMS GRANT OPPORTUNITIES  

$23 Million Available for Local Food Programs - Last week, USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announced the availability of $23 million in funding for FMLFPP, which is administered as two subprograms: The Farmers Market Promotion Program (FMPP) and the Local Food Promotion Program (LFPP). Both programs provide grants on a competitive basis for a wide spectrum of direct-to consumer and local food marketing projects. The deadline this year for both sustainable farming and food systems grant opportunities is June 18, 2019 and must be submitted electronically through grants.gov.READ MORE 

Over $7.5 Million Available for Food Safety Training and Outreach Grants - The Food Safety Outreach Program (FSOP), which is administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), recently announced $7.6 million in available to fund farmer food safety training FY 2019 – an increase of $1 million in grant funding from last year. The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. Eastern Time on June 6, 2019.READ MORE 

$90 Million Available for Large-Scale Sustainable Agriculture Research - AFRI’s Sustainable Agriculture Systems (SAS) program recently announced the availability of $90 million in funds as part of its 2019 Request for Applications (RFA). For fiscal year (FY) 2019, NIFA expects to make approximately nine awards of up to $10 million each – a $10 million increase over FY 2018. The deadline for applicants to submit Letters of Intent is June 4, 2019. The application deadline is September 26, 2019.READ MORE
